Eliot Challifour – Surviving the Toughest Race on Earth

Eliot Challifour is one of Britain’s top endurance athletes having competed in triathlon and ironman events plus ultra marathons and adventure races around the world. However he is probably best known for his appearance in the documentary ‘The Toughest Race on Earth’, which recorded his race against two times Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell in the gruelling Marathon Des Sables, a six day race across the inhospitable Sahara Desert. Despite being a high level endurance athlete continually seeking new extreme challenges, Eliot also manages the Porsche Human Performance Testing Centre at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. In this episode Eliot talks about his experiences racing through the desert, offers his expert insight into training for endurance sports and discusses his role in turning video gamers into professional racing car drivers! At the end of the show I speak to Ben Harrison ahead of his own 40 mile Grim Reaper Ultra and find out how Eliot’s testing procedures have helped him prepare for the race.
